The Austro-Swiss Region (ROeS) of the International Biometric Society (IBS) provides a platform for the exchange of information and opinions on statistical methods in all applications of biometrics (medicine, biology, pharmacy, agriculture, forestry, veterinary medicine, ecology, epidemiology, genetics, among others). The ROeS Society is supported by Swiss and Austrian biometricians. Membership and participation in events are not restricted. ROeS invites statisticians and empirical researchers interested in the application of biometrics to become members.
ROeS was founded in Vienna in 1961 by Swiss and Austrian biometricians and statisticians. Since then, the society organizes biennial biometric seminars, held alternately in Switzerland and Austria. The presidency of the ROeS also alternates between Austria and Switzerland. The ROeS Executive Board consists of the President, the Former President, the Secretary, and the Treasurer. To ensure continuity, the Secretary and Treasurer positions are held by the same individuals over longer periods of time.
Additional scientific events are organized in the interim by the three ROeS Sections (Basel Biometric Section, Vienna Biometric Section, Styria-Carinthia Section) as well as the working group Adaptive Designs and Multiple Testing Procedures (ADMTP).
